Atchison Public Schools strongly encourages students to participate in extracurricular and co-curricular activities. The wide range of activities and athletic programs that are available to students helps them explore interests and develop talents. Students enhance their character and citizenship skills while practicing good sportsmanship, which prepares them for success in their next level of education and in life after school.
At the district's middle and high schools, students have the opportunity to participate in a long list of activities. These range from academic competitions, leadership opportunities, and fine arts. In addition, athletic programs that focus on teamwork and sportsmanship are available to students throughout the school year.
Elementary students also develop their leadership skills through participation in student leadership groups that plan many activities for their school through the year.
